Student, via email: Could you please approve these study-abroad courses for my degree?
(We have a process for this that I expect students to use; direct email is not the way to go.)
Me: Who sent you my way to approve these?
They: I’m so sorry, I didn’t intend to bother you. I will find out how the process works.
Me: I wasn’t complaining, I simply wanted to know who pointed you my direction so that I could fix the process.
They: I apologize for contacting you, on a weekend no less. Thank you for your understanding!
Me: Could you please stop making assumptions about my intentions and tell me who told you to contact me?
No answer.
